Once Upon A Sleigh
Ride
This
music performance/documentary features the music of American
composer Leroy Anderson (1908-1975). While his compositions are
among the most recognizable in the world ("Sleigh Ride",
"Blue Tango", "The Typewriter", "Syncopated
Clock" and dozens more) his life has remained a mystery.
This film will for the first time present the biography of an
American icon of music.
Featured performers
who are seen conducting the Anderson works: Skitch Henderson,
Seiji Ozawa, Keith Lockhart, John Williams, and the Boston Pops.
Also seen are actress Elaine Stritch who starred in Anderson's
musical "Goldilocks" and choreographer Mark Morris
who recently created a ballet based on Anderson's music. Various
musicians who performed with Anderson also appear.
