The documentary about the Eleventh Van Cliburn International
Piano Competition brings a "reality TV" approach to
the world of classical music through the use of cutting edge digital
technology and an unflinching search for the truth. Unlike
previous Cliburn Competition ducumentaries that focused on the
music, "Playing on the Edge" examines the day-to-day
experiences of the young pianists taking part in one of the most
exciting and prestigious music festivals in the world. The
documentary explores the psychological impact of such a competition
on the lives of the competitors.
